Mature Market Experts Stat of The Day: Hearing Loss

I don’t think most people understand how profoundly hearing loss affects the mature market in their daily lives. I challenge you all to try an experiment. Try wearing an ear plug in one of your ears; from the very start of your day to until you put your head down on your pillow. It will change even the simplest conversation you have with your spouse, friends or kids. I guarantee it will change your perspective on how you interact with those seniors you know who are hard of hearing. Think about it, have you asked them which ear they hear better out of? Watch their strategies for coping . . . do they just not join in on the conversation? Do they sit with a good ear towards a certain side of the room? Really, please do me a favor and try this challenge, then have your staff try it. This should be mandatory drill for all your people whether in operations or sales and marketing.

Hearing loss can affect your life in many ways. You may miss out on talks with friends and family. On the telephone, you may find it hard to hear what the caller is saying. At the doctor’s office, you may not catch the doctor’s words.”
